Just a hair over a week after Apple released the first beta version of iOS 5.0.1 to developers, the update is now available for download to the general public. The update is said to include fixes to improve battery life, which is an issue that users have been running into since iOS 5 was first released last month. Besides the battery life bug fixes, Apple says that iOS 5.0.1 also includes the following improvements:
iOS 5.0.1 is available to the owners of the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, iPad, and iPod touch (third and fourth gen). If you can't get to a computer to plug in your iDevice and update that way, iOS 5.0.1 is also available as an over the air download via Software Update, which is found by going to Settings > General > Software Update. Obviously it'll take some time to really measure battery life and decide if Apple has indeed solved the problem, but we'd still love to hear from all of you iOS folk once you get 5.0.1 up and running, especially if you decide to go the OTA route.
