Back at the tail end of August, the Samsung SCH-i515 — currently being referred to as the DROID Prime— earned its certification from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, an important step in just about any smartphone's pre-release journey. Today it's been revealed that the i515 recently jumped through another necessary hurdle: gaining the A-OK from the Wi-Fi Alliance. There's not any new information contained in the filing, but hey, at least we know that this mysterious handset is one step closer to landing on store shelves.
Speaking of mysterious handsets, the Samsung GT-i9250 — aka Nexus Prime — has been given approval from the Bluetooth SIG. Once again, there's no new info to be found here, but it's something worth mentioning for all of the folks eagerly awaiting the next Nexus family member.
Obviously there are still quite a few details about both the DROID Prime and Nexus Prime that are still up in the air. Both devices are rumored to be launching as soon as October, though, which means that we should be learning more about the Primes soon (if the launch rumors hold true, that is). In the mean time, go ahead and drop your thoughts, opinions, hopes, and dreams about these two new Android handsets in the comments section. Can't hurt to speculate, right?
UPDATE: The folks at Pocketnow have dug up a user agent profile on Samsung's own website that belongs to the Nexus Prime. How do we know? Well, not only is the "GT-i9250" codename present on the page, but the end of the URL says "nexusprime.xml." The UAProf contains a couple of oddiities, like listing the NPrime as having an 800x480 display, which goes against a previous rumor claiming that the device would feature a 1280x720 resolution display. Although it's possible that the Prime will feature a WVGA screen, I'm guessing that Google and Samsung will want to bring the heat (and better specs) with the next Nexus device. One explanation for these specs could be that Samsung just threw some filler onto the page until it's ready to post up the actual UAProf.
