The legal battle between Apple and Samsung has been going on for months and has spanned multiple continents, and the effects of the case are being felt in Australia. Apple has won an injunction against Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia, meaning that Samsung will not be able to advertise or sell its new Android tablet until Samsung wins court approval or the case comes to an end. Apple believes that the Tab 10.1 infringes on 10 of its patents, including the look and feel and touchscreen technology of the iPad.
Samsung says that Apple is basing its claims on the U.S. version of the Tab 10.1, which is different than the one that'll be released in Australia. Samsung didn't say how the two models differ. Samsung didn't say how the two models differ, but the company has agreed to provide Apple with three samples of the Australian Tab 10.1 at least seven days before it's supposed to go on sale. A hearing to review the status of the case has been set for August 29th.
Samsung and Apple have been embroiled in a legal fight ever since Apple sued Samsung over some of its Galaxy products back in April. There hasn't been much in the way of new developments in the case here in the U.S. as of late, but Apple has been getting involved with HTC recently. We'll continue to keep an eye on both the Apple/Samsung and Apple/HTC battles going forward, so keep it locked to PhoneDog for more.
