Verizon claims that its Galaxy S II will have 4G, takes it back, then calls the device "Fascinate II"

We've seen quite a bit of information on the U.S. Samsung Galaxy S II variants emerge over the past couple of days, including shots of AT&T's keyboarded and keyboard-less models and Sprint's model passing through the FCC. One version we haven't heard much about, though, is Verizon's. That changed today, at least momentarily, as Verizon's official support team let slip on Twitter that the Big Red Galaxy S II variant will feature 4G LTE connectivity. Shortly after the tweet was sent out, though, Verizon's support team backtracked and claimed that it was referred to the 4G-enabled Galaxy Tab 10.1, not the Galaxy S II. Also worth mentioning is that, when responding to a separate tweet about the Galaxy S II, Verizon's support account referred to the GSII as the "Fascinate II." Perhaps that rumored Function moniker is no more?

So will Verizon's Galaxy S II/Function/Fascinate II pack LTE support when it launches? That's still a bit of a mystery. One would think that Samsung and Verizon would like to include 4G in the device considering that it's such a high-end phone and that Sprint's variant will feature WiMAX support, but some feel that Verizon's Galaxy S II may be relegated to 3G-only use since it's likely to launch so close to the DROID Bionic. Would the lack of 4G in Verizon's Galaxy S II be a deal breaker for you?
