And just like that, the wait is finally over. The T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide has been one of the leakier handsets in recent memory, but it's finally been made official in the dead of night. So what kind of specs does this bad boy pack? Glad you asked. The myTouch 4G Slide has a 3.7-inch 480x800 super LCD display, 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 8-megapixel camera with that T-Mobile claims is the "most advanced camera on any smartphone," 1080p video capture, VGA front-facing camera, preinstalled 8GB microSD card, physical QWERTY keyboard, khaki or black color schemes, and Android 2.3 beneath HTC Sense 3.0. Expect the myTouch 4G Slide to be available in July for $199.99 with a two-year contract and $50 mail-in rebate.
Getting back to that camera quickly, the myTouch 4G Slide features improved low-light performance with an illuminated sensor and wide aperture lens, zero shutter lag, SweepShot for "capturing panoramic shots by sweeping across an entire scene in a single motion," ClearShot HDR to help take better photos in bright settings, and BurstShot to allow users to take several photos in a quick burst. Sounds pretty attractive, no? You can check out the myTouch 4G Slide's camera in action in the short clip embedded below.
The myTouch 4G Slide and its fancy camera weren't the only things announced by T-Mobile tonight, as the carrier also declared that it's expanded its HSPA+ network to seven new markets. The newly-minted T-Mobile 4G markets are: Barnstable, Mass.; Chico, Calif.; Lancaster, Penn.; Ogden, Utah; Redding, Calif.; Vineland, N.J., and Winchester, Va.
There you have it. The myTouch 4G Slide is packing some pretty impressive specs, especially with its 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 8-megapixel shooter that's got enough whiz-bang extras to please most anyone. Some folks may be disappointed that the MT4GS "only" has a 3.7-inch display and that its not of the qHD variety, but the good news is that it is does have a super LCD screen that should appease those bummed out about the display size. So what do you all think? Anyone planning on snagging a myTouch 4G Slide next month?
