Ever since news came out that Apple will most likely not be revealing the next generation iPhone at WWDC this year, speculation has been rampant as everyone tries to predict exactly when we will be seeing the iPhone 5. The newest rumor comes courtesy of analyst firm Avian Securities, which claims that, according to a "key component supplier," the next iPhone will go into production beginning sometime this September. This could mean that we won't actually see Apple's new handset come to market until late this year or possibly early 2012, Avian notes. The firm also mentions that a cheaper iPhone is still in the works.
If Apple does indeed intend to make WWDC 2011 a software-only show, then it the rumors of a late 2011 launch for the new iPhone could gain more traction. After all, if the new device were to ship in June/July like past iPhones, why not just reveal it at WWDC? A late 2011 or early 2012 iPhone 5 launch seems pretty far off, but it would make sense if production of the handset were to kick off in September. What do you all make of this rumor?
