Thanks to a handful of teasers from Samsung, we've been anticipating an 8.9-inch Galaxy Tab to debut at CTIA this week, and now we've got confirmation that the tablet is indeed real. As you can see in these photos, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 will feature an 8.9-inch 1280x800 display, dual-core 1GHz CPU, come in at 8.6mm thick, and weigh a total of 470 grams. Additionally, the Tab 8.9 will come with a skin on top of Honeycomb that Sammy's calling "Live Panel." The custom UX will feature a custom widgets and a "Mini Apps Tray" for multitasking.
Samsung will likely reveal all of the other details about the Tab 8.9 at their event tomorrow, but this leak has given us an early peek at the newest member of the Galaxy Tab family. The internals of the Tab 8.9 (what we know so far, anyway) are pretty interesting and it's got a pretty thin body, but with pure Honeycomb devices like the XOOM and Tab 10.1 on the market, I'm not sure how appealing Sammy's Live Panel UI will be to consumers. What do you all think? Does Samsung's 8.9-inch slate sound appealing?
