Samsung's Epic 4G finally received its long-awaited update to Android 2.2 about a month ago, but thanks to data connectivity and microSD issues, the software was yanked shortly thereafter. According to a source speaking with BGR, Sprint will try it once more, with feeling. The tipster says that Android 2.2.1, build EC05, will begin rolling out over the air on Monday, March 21st, and that the upgrade will be pushed out over a four-day period. After installing the update, Epic owners can expect to see Sprint ID, better Bluetooth support, Flash 10.1, GPS improvements, and enhanced Android OS performance.
If the source is to be believed, though, the Epic won't be the only Sprint device getting some update love on Monday, as both the Samsung Transform and Samsung Galaxy Tab will also be getting Froyo upgrades. Transform owners can expect all the goodness that comes with Android 2.2 (EB28) as well as various bug fixes and enhancements, while Galaxy Tab users will be getting Sprint ID support (also EB28). Check out the full change logs below.
Considering how long it took for the Epic 4G to get its first Froyo update last month, I'm sure owners of the device have been champing at the bit for the upgrade process to get going once again. As for the Transform, it's good to see Sprint and Sammy bumping the device up to Android 2.2 since not all mid-range devices see OS updates like this (as CLIQ XT, Charm, and Flipout can attest). As always, we'll let you know if and when Sprint makes these updates official, so stay tuned!
