Last night, Motorola announced that it would be pushing out an update to the XOOM to prepare it for the arrival of Adobe Flash Player 10.2. Today more info on the launch of Flash Player 10.2 has come out, with Adobe announcing that it will be making the software available in the Android Market beginning Friday, March 18th. In order to be compatible with the newest version of Flash, a device must be running either Android 2.2, 2.3, or 3.0.1. New features inside Flash Player 10.2 include hardware acceleration of H.264 video and better integration with Honeycomb's browser for tablets, while smartphone users can expect improved scrolling and performance in the Android browser, optimization for new hardware (like dual-core CPUs), and better support for soft keyboards.
It may have taken a little longer than some of us would've liked, but it's good to know that Flash Player 10.2 is only a week away. I'm sure that XOOM owners, in particular, are pretty excited at the fact that another big feature will be making it onto their beloved tablet. Android users, are you looking forward to getting the newest version of Flash, or do you not use it enough to really notice/care?
