Before the Verizon iPhone 4 launched, we heard that while Big Red would offer an unlimited data plan for the device initially, the unlimited option wouldn't be around forever. Today Verizon CFO Fran Shammo confirmed that the iPhone's unlimited data will be disappearing, and that the change could happen as soon as this summer. No details on different data offerings were given.
Even though we've known for a while now that the Verizon iPhone's unlimited data plan would eventually get canned, it's still kind of a bummer to hear the news again. If the plan does stick around until summer, perhaps Big Red will let iPhone 5 buyers have a chance at signing up for unlimited data before finally giving it the axe. It's not clear exactly what kind of tiered plans VZW will have on offer after unlimited data is gone, but AT&T currently has two options available to its users, 200MB/$15 per month or 2GB/$25 per month, and it wouldn't be shocking if Verizon came up with similar plans for its customers.
