UberTwitter and Twidroyd are two of the biggest Twitter applications for BlackBerry, iPhone, and Android, but users of those apps may have noticed today that they simply weren't working. Twitter has posted a support page on its site explaining that it has suspended the apps for "violating [its] policies." Exactly which policies were violated isn't clear, but Twitter did say that it actually suspends hundreds of apps every day and that since UberTwitter and Twidroyd are so popular, they decided to let users know what was going on.
It's pretty surprising that Twitter would straight up suspend the two apps considering just how huge they are on their respective platforms, but since they are so very popular, I've got a feeling that Ubermedia, which owns both apps, will be working furiously to get everything smoothed out with Twitter. In the mean time, maybe you could take the opportunity to check out some other apps to access Twitter. If you're a Twitter user, shout out your favorite app down below.
UPDATE: Looks like the suspensions have to with privacy problems with DMs longer than 140 characters, some trademark infringement, and "changing the content of users' Tweets in order to make money." We'll let you know when things are up and running.
