Yesterday we heard more rumors about the Samsung Epic 4G's Froyo update and its supposed February 21st arrival, and today Sprint has stepped in and made everything nice and official. As you can see above, Sprint announced on its community forums that the Epic 4G will finally be upgraded to Android 2.2 beginning Monday, February 21st. The EB13 update should be rolled out to all Epics by Feb. 25th. There's been no mention of the Zio's update coming on the 21st as well, but considering that the Epic's rumored Froyo launch date has been proven to be legit, I wouldn't be shocked if the Zio's was, as well.
It's certainly been a long time coming, as the Epic 4G has been sporting Eclair since its launch on August 31st of last year, but I'm glad to see another Galaxy S device finally get updated to Android 2.2. Unfortunately, there are still a few left that need to get 2.2, as well. U.S. Cellular has said the Mesmerize's upgrade will be coming "around March," but Verizon and AT&T have been pretty quiet about the Fascinate and Captivate updates. Here's to hoping that, now that the Epic is getting bumped to Froyo, the remaining Galaxy S phones won't be far behind.
