Verizon and MetroPCS have been going back and forth with LTE milestones, with Metro launching the first LTE handset in the Samsung Craft and Verizon recently completing a Voice over LTE call with an LG Revolution. MetroPCS isn't letting Big Red have all of the VoLTE fun, though, as it's recently been revealed that Metro plans to push out a VoLTE-capable handset made by Samsung. Speaking with PCMag, Dan Warren, technology director at the GSMA, revealed that Samsung is prepping a 4G, VoLTE smartphone for use on MetroPCS' network, although he failed to mention exactly when the device would actually be launching.
MetroPCS may not be the largest cell provider in the country, but they've certainly been making waves lately with their cheap monthly rates and rapid LTE advancements. The only downside is that, while they're definitely giving Verizon a run for its money when it comes to 4G devices, MetroPCS' LTE network only covers a handful of markets across the country. Still, it's pretty awesome to see Metro making big strides with their 4G handsets. So who do you think will be the first to market with a VoLTE smartphone?
