Customers on Nextel looking to get in on the Android fun have long had only one choice when it comes to a new handset: the Motorola i1. However, a new rumor originating from GroupoAndroid claims that the Nextel Android selection is about to double. The device you see above is being referred to as the Motorola i1Q, which sports a physical QWERTY keyboard with a processor that's described as not very strong. The site claims that the i1Q is running Android 2.1, although some think that, judging by the look of the icons in the photo, it's actually running 1.5.
While the i1Q most likely will be a low to mid-range Android phone, it looks like a pretty serviceable handset for those users that want or need to stick with Nextel, especially since the iDEN network will be supported through 2013. Unfortunately, there's no word on when we can expect the i1Q to actually arrive. We'll be sure to keep you updated as we learn more.
