The DROID X is almost assuredly going to have a sequel which could come out some time around the middle of 2011. What's not so clear is exactly what kind of specs will be packed into the X2. The folks at Hot Hardware claim to have the goods, though. According to a "highly reliable source" speaking to the site, the DROID X successor, codenamed "Daytona," will feature a 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 4.3-inch display with a qHD (960x540) resolution, an 8 megapixel camera that's said to take quicker photos than the original X, 720p video capture, HDMI out, and a launch date of some time in May. What about 4G, you ask? The sources aren't sure, but other sources believe that the DX2 will be 3G-only.

Considering that Moto's newest Android phones sport specs like a dual-core Tegra 2 and qHD display, it should come as no surprise that the X 2 would pack similar features. I'll be a little surprised if the handset doesn't feature LTE, especially considering that the original DROID X was one of the highest-end phones in Verizon's lineup. At the same time, though, Big Red's 4G network will still be pretty young, so I could understand why they wouldn't want to pack their shelves with tons of LTE phones when only a smaller portion of their customers will have access to the coverage.
