BlackBerry fans, heads up: there's a new sheriff in town. What you're looking at up above is the fabled BlackBerry Dakota, the device that's supposed to merge a touchscreen with the traditional portrait QWERTY that RIM's handsets are known for. Not only that, but it's sporting several of the bells and whistles that high-end smartphones need to compete, like HD video capture, a thin frame, and an up-to-date OS. From the look of things, this 'Berry is going to be a winner. Sure, it may not boast a dual-core processor or QNX (not that we expected it to), but it certainly sounds like a step up from many of the handsets that RIM is offering right now. The question is, is it enough to keep BlackBerry owners from jumping ship to another platform and perhaps even get some of the defectors back into RIM's camp? That I'm not so sure about.
