So we're still waiting on iOS 4.2, which, last we heard, had suffered a pretty major WiFi bug. Today Apple surprised us all with a new gold master version of iOS, 4.2.1, in their developer center. It's unknown exactly what is different in this new build, number 8C148, but it's assumed that Apple has patched the nefarious issue that blocked some users from accessing the Internet via WiFi by now. On a separate iOS note, it appears that a "severe" VoIP issue has been found in iOS 4.2 that, according to Line2 developer Toktumi, causes the phone to continue ringing even after the call is answered if Line2 is running the in background. Toktumi has said that Apple is aware of the bug, which affects all VoIP apps, but it isn't known if the issue is present in the newly-released iOS 4.2.1.
Apple sent out a revised version of iOS 4.2 recently, so most of us assumed that the official version of 4.2 would be rolling out to the public soon, possibly today. Now that 4.2.1 has been released to devs, though, it doesn't look like we'll be getting our AirPrint on until the middle of next week at the earliest. Let's just hope that there aren't any other little bugs that pop up and cause iOS 4.2 to be pushed back some more. I'm not sure Apple would be happy if iOS 4.2 ends up not making its November release window.
