You've no doubt seen that Sprint and T-Mobile have been advertising their WiMAX and HSPA+ networks as "4G," even if the ITU doesn't quite agree. Now Verizon has joined in the faux 4G fun with their latest ad campaign, which pits their 3G/LTE coverage against AT&T's LTE-less 3G network. As you can see, Verizon is claiming that it has the fastest 4G network in America, which I'm sure is something that Sprint and T-Mo will have something to say about. In the past, AT&T responded to Verizon's ads with their own commercials featuring Luke Wilson, so it'll be interesting to see how they respond to this new campaign. Perhaps this time they'll spring for Owen?
Verizon and AT&T have had a long and entertaining history, but it's been a while since we've seen the top two carriers go at it. This time, though, I wouldn't be surprised to see Sprint and T-Mobile join the fray since Verizon is claiming that their "4G" network is the fastest. Then again, each carrier with a "4G" network so far has had their own way of describing it: Sprint's was "the first," T-Mobile's is "America's largest," and now Verizon is playing the speed card by saying that they have "the fastest" network. Maybe AT&T could just find a new adjective to describe their own LTE network when it launches. I'm thinking "the most delicious."
