The LG Vortex still hasn't been announced by Verizon, which isn't surprising considering how little notice they give us about new smartphones these days, but it's looking likely that it's going to arrive sooner rather than later. How do I know that? Well, a newly-leaked Verizon document lists the Vortex as "Coming Soon!" but unfortunately, it doesn't get into any specifics. We've seen leaked docs in the past peg the Vortex's launch date as November 18th, and considering that that leak has been spot-on so far, I'd say that the 18th is a safe bet.
It's kind of crazy that just a year or two ago, a smartphone like the Vortex would've gone for $100 or even $200 on-contract, but now you'll be able to snag a Vortex for free after a $100 mail-in rebate. Sure, it's not a super high-end device, but not only does it have a decent 600MHz processor, it's got Android 2.2, which is more than many other Android phones can say. The LG Optimus S for Sprint has been impressing Aaron with its camera and call quality, and since the Vortex seems to be Verizon's version of that handset, you can probably expect the same strengths in Big Red's device. Would any of you consider picking up for Vortex for free?
