While Samsung's Galaxy Tab is able to make voice calls over WiFi with Skype, the ability to call over cellular networks is absent.  While some might not really care about the feature, it could be nice to have in a pinch.  Apparently some hackers over at XDA-Developers felt the same way, because they've found a way to get the Tab to make voice calls just like the phone you have in your pocket now.  Unfortunately, the hack only works with the T-Mobile version of the Galaxy Tab, so you Sprint and Verizon owners are going to be stuck using WiFi for calls.  The whole process requires a fair amount of work and doesn't seem to be for the faint of heart, but if you feel like eliminating your T-Mobile handset and going all in with the Tab (and don't mind holding a 7-inch tablet up to your face), you can find everything you need at the source link.

Some people may not miss the ability to make phone calls with a large tablet or understand why you would want to do that, but it's not like having the ability would hurt.  Plus, if you ever need to make a quick call and don't have your phone on you, the Tab can come to the rescue.  It's disappointing that only the T-Mobile Tab can make voice calls right now, but knowing how dedicated the Android hacking community is, I wouldn't be surprised if that changed in the near future.  If any of you out there decide to give this hack a go, let us know how it works out!
