We've heard previously that Sprint was planning to launch 4G in Los Angeles on December 1st, but now those in the City of Angels may be getting some WiMAX even sooner. Stephanie Vinge, part of Sprint's corporate communications team, just tweeted that WiMAX would be live in L.A. "by Dec 1." Sure, that's not a solid, it's-gonna-happen-exactly-on-this-day announcement, but December 1st is only a few weeks away, so we don't have long to wait.
Usually before Sprint officially launches 4G in a city, WiMAX coverage is spotted by some users early. For example, some San Francisco users were seeing 4G in the middle of September, but officially, SF won't be getting WiMAX until some time in December. This means that Los Angeles could be seeing 4G any day now, with an official launch coming shortly after. Sprint customers in L.A., keep an eye out for WiMAX in your area, and be sure to come back and let us know when you find it!
