Now that we know that the DROID 2 will live on, at least for a couple of months, after the DROID 2 Global is released, it's time to focus on just what the DROID 2 Global is all about. Luckily, the folks over at Droid-Life have managed to snag a spec comparison sheet which lays out just about every bit of info about the DROID 2 Global that you could possibly need. Just like we saw on Motorola's site, the D2G will pack a 1.2GHz processor, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, 8GB of memory and a preinstalled 8GB microSD card, Android 2.2, dual-band CDMA and quad-band GSM, and will be available in both "Dark Sapphire" and "Winter White." Still no word on the D2G's launch date, but November 11th is looking more and more solid as the days go by.
Some DROID 2 owners may be disappointed by the higher-specced chip and color options available with the DROID 2 Global, but at least they've gotten to use their handsets for some time now. I'm curious to see how much the D2G will cost when it finally launches: will it command a premium like the R2-D2 DROID 2, or will Verizon price it at $199.99 like the original DROID 2 before today? It does sport a slightly faster processor, the ability to roam outside of the U.S., and come in two different colors. On the other hand, the D2G doesn't sport the Star Wars extras and special paint job that the R2-Droid 2 did. Either way, we won't be waiting much longer to find out the final price.
