The Motorola CLIQ got unofficially updated to Android 2.1 way back in June, but not everyone was adventurous or willing enough to install the ROM onto their handset. Those people will soon be rewarded, though, as the official Android 2.1 upgrade for the CLIQ will be arriving soon. The image you see above was leaked to our friends at TmoNews, but unfortunately there's no release date to be found. A source has told TmoNews that employees are going to receive training for the update around November 7th, and that that training usually takes place about a week before the upgrade actually rolls out. That means we're looking at a possible mid-November arrival for the CLIQ-flavored Eclair goodness. Also, it should be noted that this update is for CLIQ owners only, although an upgrade for the CLIQ XT shouldn't be too far behind.
We've heard that the CLIQ's successor will be arriving at the beginning of November, so an update to Android 2.1 would be a good consolation for all of those customers still holding on to their original CLIQs. Sure, they may not be receiving the latest version of Android, but it's certainly better than being stuck on 1.5. So, CLIQ owners, can you wait one more month for the 2.1 roll out to begin (as long as Motorola doesn't, you know, decide to delay the update again)?
