The BlackBerry Torch has been the only 'Berry to officially run the new BlackBerry 6 OS since its launch, but that may be changing very soon. The folks over at Boy Genius Report have received a Sprint document stating that the BlackBerry Style/Oxford will be hitting the No. 3 carrier on October 31st for $99.99 on contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate, or $399.99 contract-free. According to the doc, the Oxford will feature BB 6, a 5 megapixel camera, a full QWERTY board and trackpad, and EV-DO Rev. A data capabilities. Interestingly, the leaked doc says that only the gray model will arrive on Halloween, with the purple version is listed as "Coming Soon."
Up until now, it's been assumed that this particular BlackBerry would be known as the Style when it finally hit retail channels (the device has even appeared in Sprint's systems bearing the Style name). This new document refers to it as the Oxford, which was the name that the device had before the name "Style" entered the equation. I think that we'll end up seeing it launch as the Style, since Oxford sounds more like an internal code name than the name of a shipped product. At this point, though, it's anyone's guess as to what this clamshell BlackBerry will be called when it finally lands. How many of you will be doing a trick to make the Style/Oxford your treat this upcoming Halloween?
