Many rumors suggested that the DROID Pro and the DROID 2 Global would be the same handset, but now that Motorola has revealed the DROID Pro, we know that that's not the case. That became more true tonight as Moto let slip some info on the DROID 2 Global. The DROID 2 Global page, which has since been taken down, touted the device's 1.2 GHz processor, a 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash, Flash Player 10.1, Anrdroid 2.2, and the ability to run on the WCDMA/HSDPA/HSUPA networks in Europe and, of course, Verizon's 3G network in the U.S. Moto also said that the device would pack a thinner slide-out QWERTY keyboard and "improved touch screen technology for greater accuracy." The page was quickly taken down and, unfortunately, there were no photos to be found.
While the DROID 2 Global definitely looks like a hot device (if these specs are accurate), it's kind of strange that Motorola would launch the DROID 2 in August and then a similar but better model just two months later. While some customers may not notice, I have a feeling that there will be others that will feel burned by Motorola and Verizon's decision to launch the DROID 2 Global so soon. We'll just have to wait for the device to be officially announced to see what happens. Considering that DROID 2 Global's page went up on Moto's site, I'm guessing that we'll be seeing it sooner rather than later.
