Palm has already detailed webOS 2.0 and all of its new features, but the company has been rather quiet about any new hardware that may be coming to run the new OS. HP's Senior VP Eric Cador thought that that should change, though, while speaking at a conference in Barcelona. Although he avoided getting into any sort of specifics, Cador said that "you will see us coming early next year with new phones." Notice the plural "phones," in that sentence.
Sure, it's disappointing that Cador didn't go any further into the topic of new devices, but we've got to take what we can get when it comes to new webOS handsets. The fact that we have to wait until next year to see new hardware is a bit of a downer, too, but I have a feeling that Palm will still be able to make a splash in the mobile world whenever they get around to releasing new phones. Many people really enjoy using Palm's webOS, although not everyone adores the phones that run that OS. Hopefully releasing more devices with new form factors (like the "Mansion") will help bring Palm and webOS back into the spotlight.
