We've seen leaks of HTC's Sense running on Windows Phone 7, both of the photo and video variety, but today HTC is saying that we won't be seeing Sense on WP7 when the OS launches next month. Speaking to the folks at FierceWireless, HTC CEO Peter Chou has said that the company won't have time to include things on top of Windows Phone 7 initially, but will add their own touches over time. Chou also said that HTC won't be providing a full Sense UI on WP7 phones, although we already knew that since Microsoft isn't allowing skinning of WP7 like on Windows Mobile or on Android. The full quote can be read below:
“Initially, we don’t have time to bring things on top of that. But over time we will innovate on top of that to provide some HTC experience.”
It seems kind of strange that HTC won't be including their Sense additions in Windows Phone 7 at launch, especially because everything we've seen leaked about it so far seems pretty smooth to me. Still, I'm sure HTC has their reasoning for not throwing Sense into the WP7 mix right away. While disappointing, this news hasn't dampened my excitement for the WP7 launch, which we're inching closer to every day. How excited are you for the release of Windows Phone 7?
