Bad news for you that own a member of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 family: the Android 2.1 update that was originally slated for September has been pushed back to the end of October. Speaking on the Sony Ericsson Product Blog, the company has said that they need some extra time with the software to ensure that everything goes smoothly with the roll out of the update. In order to assuage the anger or sadness that XPERIA owners may be feeling at this news, SE reminds us of all of the improvements that will be coming with the update, which include all of the usual benefits of Android 2.1 as well as HD video recording for the X10.
Delays are nothing new in the smartphone world, so I don't think any of us can be terribly surprised by this news. Still, it's pretty disappointing that XPERIA owners will be stuck using Android 1.6 for another month, especially as we're looking toward both Gingerbread and Honeycomb. Sorry for the disappointment, XPERIA owners, but in the mean time you can watch this video of Android 2.1 on an X10 and imagine what it'll be like when the update finally lands on your handset.
