One week ago, LG announced two new devices in their line of Optimus phones, the One and the Chic. At the time, the only release information for these two handsets pertained to the U.K., with no mention of any stateside launch. Good news, everyone! The LG Optimus One will be launching in the U.S., and it will be coming to the biggest, reddest carrier in the country. The folks at The Droid Guy have learned that the U.S. version of the Optimus One will be called the Vortex, will launch on Verizon, and they believe it will hit before Thanksgiving. There's also a photo of the Vortex, seen above, which sports a slightly redesigned face compared to the Optimus One. As a quick refresher, specs for the Vortex/Optimus One include: 800 MHz processor, Android 2.2, 3.2-inch display, GPS, Bluetooth, and FM radio.
I don't know about you, but I'm glad to see a new Android phone from LG. The last time we saw an Android handset from LG in the U.S. was the mid-range Ally on Verizon several months ago, so I'd say it's time for a new LG device featuring Google's green robot. While I'd prefer to see the Optimus Chic come to the U.S., the Optimus One will do just fine. How about giving us some tablet love and launching the Optimus Pad here, too, LG?
