Hot on the heels of news that HTC may be cooking up an Android tablet to be launched in Q1 of 2011, along comes news that Acer may be planning its own Android-based tablets, too. According to Digitimes, who also published the HTC tablet rumor, Acer intends to release three tablets featuring the Android OS that will feature screens that are 5-inches, 7-inches, and 10-inches in size. Acer hasn't decided whether they will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon or an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor inside their tablets, but they will be using Android 3.0 Honeycomb, aka the version of Android made for tablets. As for a release date, Acer is currently planning on Q1 2011.
For those of you keeping track at home, when it comes to Android-powered tablets we now have the Samsung Galaxy Tab, another tablet from Samsung, Motorola's MZ600 Stingray, LG's Optimus Pad, HTC's rumored device, and now three more from Acer. Am I missing any? Considering the number of tablets coming down the pipeline, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that there are even more manufacturers planning their own tablet device running Google's mobile OS. I just hope that you love tablets, because the next six months is going to be chock full of them.
