Android-based tablets are a hot topic right now, with many manufacturers planning to help inundate the market with Android tablets in Q1 of 2011.  We all know by now that Motorola is working on an Android tablet for Verizon and, while we were expecting the MZ600 Stingray to launch in the near future, Moto co-CEO Sanjay Jha says the company won't be putting out a tablet until at least early 2011.  Speaking at yesterday's Deutsche Bank Technology Conference, Jha said that he "will only develop a tablet if it is sufficiently compelling. Hopefully, that is early next year."  Continuing with the subject, Jha believes that tablets won't end up cannibalizing smartphones, explaining instead that he sees tablets as an extension of smartphones.

Considering how many times we've seen Motorola's MZ600 tablet show up in Verizon's systems, I have a feeling that Sanjay Jha may just be trying to keep things close to the chest.  With all of the upcoming tablets from different manufacturers, it's understandable that the company wants to keep their tablet under wraps for as long as possible.  However, while it's totally possible that Moto won't be releasing a tablet until early 2011 like Jha said, I wouldn't be surprised to see it launch just a bit sooner.
