BlackBerry launched their App World on April 1st of last year and, a year later, the storefront for everything BlackBerry has hit a milestone. According to a tweet sent out today by BlackBerry manufacturer Research In Motion, the App World now has 10,000 apps available to users. A recent update brought App World to version 2.0 and made selling and buying apps in the App World much easier by eliminating the previous minimum price set at $2.99 and allowing credit card billing and QR code scanning. Considering that BlackBerry is still the marketshare leader here in the U.S., the number of apps available in the App World should continue to climb at a steady pace.
Sure, RIM's App World can't compete with the number of apps available in Google's Android Market (100,000) or Apple's App Store (250,000), but 10,000 apps is nothing to sneeze at. One of the complaints that users had about the App World is the fact that devs couldn't charge $0.99 for their apps, which eliminated the option for impulse buys. Now that devs can charge whatever they'd like, I have a feeling that the App World is going to grow quite a bit. So readers, which of the 10,000 apps available in the App World are your favorites?
