BlackBerry manufacturer Research In Motion has been facing potential bans of their smartphones in several different countries like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (although RIM seems to have conceded to their demands).  India is another country that has had problems with RIM's BlackBerry services recently, though it seems that the two parties seem to have come to a possible solution.  The Indian telecommunications department will review RIM's new solution for 60 days to see if it allows security agencies to access the BlackBerry messaging and email services.  If everything goes as planned, RIM will have averted a potentially major ban on its products and services in India.

RIM's deadline to produce an answer to India's concerns was tomorrow, so the manufacturer cut it pretty close.  It's good that they were able to put together a solution that appears like it will meet the country's demands, though.  While India only represents two percent of RIM's 46 million total subscribers, a ban in India would not only kill off the potential to gain more customers, it could have lead to BlackBerry bans in other countries, as well.
