Samsung's Galaxy S variants have only hit two of the five carriers that are planned to get the phone, but Samsung announced today that the Galaxy S has already hit quite a milestone. After being released on AT&T and T-Mobile, Samsung Mobile has declared that they have shipped one million Galaxy S devices in the U.S. since July 15th. Sprint will be launching their Galaxy S variant, the Epic 4G, on August 31st, while Verizon is expected to begin selling the Fascinate on September 9th. Finally, both U.S. Cellular and Cellular South will be releasing their own Galaxy S models this fall, with U.S. Cellular's expected to hit in October. Check out the full press release below.
Considering that Samsung has a model of the Galaxy S launching on five different carriers, I don't think it's terribly surprising that they were able to ship one million handsets. What is unexpected, though, is how quickly they were able to do it. Since the Galaxy S is only available on two carriers right now, this announcement is a testament to the popularity of the Captivate on AT&T and the Vibrant on T-Mobile. Something that is sure to increase their popularity even further is the fact that Samsung has said that all of its Galaxy S variants will be upgradeable to Android 2.2. So, owners of a Galaxy S device, how are you liking your shiny new handset?
