One of the more exciting aspects of Windows Phone 7 has been the prospect of accessing Xbox LIVE, and playing various games from the comfort and convenience of your smartphone.  Today, Microsoft has announced that at the launch of WP7, 50 popular games will be available to the masses, and more will be added weekly after the first phones hit the streets.  Assassins Creed, Asphalt 5, Bejeweled LIVE, Earthworm Jim, Guitar Hero 5, Star Wars: Battle for Hoth, and The Oregon Trail are just a few of the titles you can expect to see this holiday season.

Marc Whitten, Corporate VP of Xbox Live, said "We believe that no matter where life takes you, the best in gaming and entertainment should follow.  Windows Phone 7 takes a different approach to handheld gaming, utilizing Xbox LIVE, Microsoft Game Studios, leading game publishers, and innovative indie developers, to create powerful, shared experiences for everyone."

One of the cool features you'll see with the release of Xbox LIVE for WP7 is "try-before-you-buy," which is exactly what it sounds like, an opportunity to tryout a game before being forced to spend your hard earned money on a game that you may end up not liking in the end.  I'm not much of a gamer myself (my stubby paws make it difficult), but so far, Xbox LIVE for WP7 is sounding pretty good to me!  Any takers?
