Verizon has slowly been dropping hints about the rollout of its LTE network, but most of its information has just been leaked out. Boy Genius Report has received information about Verizon's LTE rollout, saying that the 4G network will go live in 25 markets on November 15th. There will be around 100 million users within these 25 markets with access to Verizon's new 4G network. LTE-capable phones won't be available right at launch, but Verizon is planning to release "a slew of new devices" on November 26th, a.k.a. Black Friday. Verizon's LTE data plans will, in fact, be tiered, but you won't be charged a $10 premium fee like Sprint charges for 4G access. All of this news comes from "a new tipster," but BGR is feels confident enough in the source to post the news.
All of this news sounds pretty realistic considering the news we've heard on Verizon LTE in the past. The carrier recently began user testing of its 4G and mentioned plans to expand testing to five cities. If the November 15th date holds true, five months sounds like a reasonable amount of time to finish up testing the service and roll it out to more markets. A big holiday push could definitely help drive interest for Verizon LTE, something I'm sure the carrier is counting on.
