Looks like Microsoft may be pulling an Apple when it comes to their Windows Phone Marketplace. According to a report by Engadget, the Phone Marketplace will be the only place to get applications on Windows Phone 7 Series devices. Developers will be required to adhere to Microsoft's technical and content guidelines, though the company plans to avoid similar approval issues that have plagued iPhone users. According to Microsoft's Todd Higgs, company executives will be meeting regularly to make the process "transparent and predictable."
Keeping that in mind, I've seen similar statements from competing companies, so we'll see how it pans out in the long term. That being said, I wouldn't expect anything different from Microsoft, so the news doesn't come as a surprise. Shocking? Typical Microsoft? Tell me in the comments!
