Verizon set to launch HTC Touch Pro2 and Nokia Twist 7705

Adding some pizazz to the carrier's summer phone lineup, Verizon Wireless is set to launch the HTC Touch Pro2 and the Nokia Twist 7705 within the week.  First up, the Touch Pro 2.  Launching tomorrow (September 11th), the device offers a 528 MHz Qualcomm processor, 3.6-inch tilting touchscreen, a full QWERTY keyboard (and a spacious one, at that), 3.2-megapixel camera, 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi, and a 1500 mAh battery.

Personally, I believe that Verizon's version of the Touch Pro2 is the best on the market thus far.  Why, you ask?

Why Verizon's Touch Pro2 is the best version:

  • The price!  $199.99 after $100 mail-in rebate versus the absurd $350 price that the other two (Sprint, T-Mobile) carriers are charging (though I'd be willing to wager that a price cut is in the works at Sprint and T-Mobile).
  • It does a fantastic job of preserving the unlocked, European version's design - a far better look, in my opinion (subjective).
  • It offers a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Secondly, the swiveling Nokia Twist 7705 is slated to land online on Sunday, September 13th, followed by an in-store launch on September 21st.  Though it's not quite as special as the Touch Pro2, the feature set is still decent: a 3-megapixel camera, full HTML web browser, threaded messaging, and V CAST support.  The 7705 will cost $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate.
