Verizon Wireless offers BOGO sale for BlackBerry devices
Nothing beats buying something and getting one for free, and Verizon is doing just that with their BlackBerry lineup. Between February 6th and March 31st, when customers purchase a BlackBerry device - including the Storm - they qualify for one for free (of equal or lesser value). According to rumors, the next OS update for the Storm is scheduled for March 31st. Via BGR
MetroPCS launches service in Boston and New York City
New York City and Boston (as well as the respective surrounding areas) have a new carrier in their backyards. In a continuing trend to cover the Northeast, MetroPCS announced on Thursday that the network in place uses the Advanced Wireless Service (AWS) spectrum that the company won in 2006. Sprint enables MMS support in BlackBerry OS 4.5 update
Big news for Sprint users - if you have ever or are currently using the BlackBerry Curve or Pearl (or several other smartphones in their lineup, for that matter), you're used to not being able to send picture mail without performing obnoxious workarounds. T-Mobile announces Samsung Memoir to the lineup
8 megapixels of goodness is on its way to T-Mobile, as the fourth largest wireless carrier and Samsung announced the Samsung Memoir. Featuring a Xenon flash, 16x digital zoom and CMOS autofocus, the device is sure to take exceptional photos. Look for the phone to have the Samsung TouchWiz user interface and offer 3G capability. Worldwide phone market shrinks by 12.6% in fourth quarter, just the beginning
When one thinks of the fourth quarter, the thought of strong sales usually follows. However, that was not the case in Q42008, as the worldwide phone market shipped 289.0 million devices, causing the market to shrink 12.6 percent lower than the 330.8 million shipments shipped in Q42007.
