It’s been way too long since we talked about apps on PhoneDog, but that’s about to change because I have 10 iOS apps I want to share with you for the month of February. These apps are listed in no particular order: some are new, some of them recently received new updates, and some of them are just plain awesome.
Trivia Crack
The app that seems to be gaining in popularity lately is called Trivia Crack, and it's worth checking out if you don’t know about it already. I like the app because it makes me think more than other games since it’s all about trivia. You spin to pick a category and it’ll ask you a question based off the category selected. Some of the questions are easy — others not so much — but you play against real people. Trivia Crack is a turn-based game that you can play when it's convenient for you.
Yahoo Weather
I'm usually not a fan of Yahoo, but they do have a very visually stunning weather app that's certainly worth checking out. It displays the weather in real time with some neat animations and modern-looking fonts. The layout is pretty simple, letting you swipe through places from left to right. You also have access to other Yahoo apps if you use Yahoo services; if you don't, you can ignore them and just use the weather service they offer like I do.
Jelly Jump
Jelly Jump is a pretty slick game, no pun intended. It’s fairly new but very addicting. You play as a jelly cube that jumps through platforms, and it’s one of those games that has you you trying to beat your best score. It’s pretty challenging, and while there’s not much to it, it’s great for passing time.
Hopper
Have you ever needed to leave the country as quick as possible? Yeah, you’re not alone. Thankfully, Hopper alerts me when flight prices drop and when they’re about to rise so that if I have time to plan, I can find the cheapest travel dates and airports for my trip. I can set my home airport and destination and Hopper will give me a scale with the days that offer the cheapest deals compared to days that are more expensive to fly. This app will seriously save you a ton of money, so definitely check it out if you want to travel for cheap.
Clash of Clans
Clash of Clans is a seriously popular game right now, but it’s on my list because it’s also pretty darn fun. The goal of the game is to build a village and to fend off raiders. You can battle against millions of other people and their clans. I actually watched the Liam Neeson Super Bowl commercial and decided to check it out, and I can see why it’s popular: It has that "This could seriously be addicting" vibe to it. I’m still a newb when it comes to playing Clash of Clans, but maybe there’s a few of you who haven’t played it yet and are curious like I was.
Quora
Quora is an app that gives you answers to your questions. You can select several topics that interest you and it’ll generate questions with answers. You can also ask a question or search for a question that has already been asked to view answers or comments. It’s kind of like a modern Yahoo Answers, and it’s pretty neat.
CloudMagic
CloudMagic is an all-in-one email service that lets you use one app to access the many email and cloud-based services you may have. It works with Google Apps, Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Outlook, iCloud, Office 365, and IMAP. You can add security locks like a passcode to access information. I just enjoy CloudMagic because I can access info from several different apps with it, which saves me a lot of time.
Reaper
Reaper is a fun little adventure game. It’s actually an "epic action RPG," as you’re a black swordsman that slays thousands of enemies. The controls are a bit funky and take some time to get used to, but it’s pretty fun and I like the simple but artistic animations.
IF
If you never heard of IF, you should check it out. It’s an app that’s designed to let you create powerful connections with one simple statement: if this then that. Some examples include the ability to email your new iPhone photos to yourself, or backup your contacts to a Google spreadsheet. The recipes are endless. It’s an app that I find incredible because someone actually created something that has a ton of potential. I am new to IF, but I’m going to give it a shot and see if I can actually streamline my workflow.
Funny or Die Weather
I want to end on a fun note, and what better way to do that then with an app that has some humor in it? Funny or Die Weather pretty much does two things: display the weather and display a daily reminder that is usually pretty funny, or at least tries to be. If you check the weather in the morning on your phone, this app may be for you because it might make you smile or laugh when you wake up and start the day, and that's always a good thing. Remember, happiness is a choice.
So with that last one, those are 10 iOS apps I really enjoyed in the month of February 2015. Let me know what your favorite app is from the list, and if you have any suggestions, definitely let me know by leaving a comment down below and I’ll check them out for myself.
