This month is coming to an end, meaning we get to reflect on some of the best apps to hit the Play Store during October 2017. Without further ado, let’s get started.
Notin is the first app on the list and it’s beautifully simple. The app lets you pin notifications to your notification drawer so that it’s always up there to bug you and remind you. The app is so simple that right when you tap on the app icon, it opens up a prompt to let you start typing your note. From there, you can swipe down on the notification tray and swipe the notification away when it is complete.
Engkoo is a new app from Microsoft that uses artificial intelligence to determine the accuracy of English pronunciation. It will score by correct pronunciation, intonation, and pace. It’s a neat use of AI that should help your spoken English. I know it could definitely help mine.
Mmm Fingers 2 is both simple and fun. You have to touch and hold the screen as long as you can. If you hit anything with teeth, it is game over.
Colorflow is an adult coloring book app where you can release some stress by drawing animals, flowers, and mandalas. I know it seems kind of silly to have such an app on this list but it can be a fun way to relieve stress. All you have to do is just tap and paint. It is that simple, guys.
Split-screen Creator is an app that lets you launch two apps in split-window mode automatically. Instead of having to manually open one app, launch split-window mode, and select a second app, this significantly simplifies the process. If you are rocking an Android Nougat smartphone and you’d like to multi-task, I highly recommend this app because it’ll save you a lot of time.
Gravity Browser is an app that lets you scroll through web pages just by tilting your phone. That’s right, you don’t have to touch your finger to your screen to scroll through content. You can just tilt it. You can adjust the speed in the settings. I can see this app being very convenient when reading online articles or ebooks.
Material Notification Shade uses gesture detection to provide you with a custom notification shade when you swipe down to reveal your notifications. This is a great app to have if your device is running Android Marshmallow or Android Nougat and you would like it to look like it’s running Android Oreo. you can change the shade background color, the transparency, and the overall layout. I highly recommend this app if you want your smartphone to resemble a Nexus or Pixel device.
Cat Bird is a fun but challenging platform adventure game. The goal is to help Cat Bird get back home. You have to venture through unique worlds and hover across pits and traps and enemies and sawblades all while avoiding the guardians that block your path. The graphics help make this game feel like a classic arcade. It is a ton of fun.
The next two apps are for the Pixel 2 users out there. If you’re using the Pixel 2 XL specifically and are disappointed with the device’s display colors, you can use the app Oreo Colorizer to help make colors pop. This app does use up some extra battery life and it may slow down performance a tad but it really does work to improve the colors on the Pixel 2 XL’s display.
The next app is called Button Mapper and it can be used to remap the Pixel 2 XL’s squeeze feature that opens up the Google Assistant. I will add that it does require you to connect your phone to a computer and use adb to add some extra code but I have placed a link in the description to a tutorial walking you through the process. We have also placed some links in the description to download each app mentioned in this video.
With that last one, those are ten of our favorite Android apps to hit the Play Store during the month of October 2017.
