Welcome to a very interesting battle between the iPhone 6 Plus and the LG G3. This video’s going to be very interesting and very uncommon because most of these devices don’t have the features that these two devices have in common and that is Optical Image Stabilization.
Basically, Optical Image Stabilization is a really cool method of suspending the elements of the lens to get you a more stabilized lens in photo and video. both of these devices have real true Optical Image Stabilization instead of your standard Digital Image Stabilization that’s found on phones like the HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S5 and even the iPhone 6, the little brother to the iPhone 6 Plus. So this video is just really meant to compare between the iPhone 6 Plus and the LG G3 in terms of how well this actually stabilizes all the video.
Take a look at the LG G3 with OIS. It’s recording 4K UHD but it is compressed down to 1080p and this is what it looks like. It’s pretty good. There’s a little bit of wobble. There’s definitely some more pulses with the LG G3. Any kind of shakes kind of gives it a really weird pulsing sensation around the whole frame. But overall, it actually stabilizes the video quite well. I’m actually pretty impressed with the LG G3 and its OIS system.
Switching over to the iPhone 6 Plus and you’ll see pretty much more or less the same thing here. The video is pretty stabilized. I think the OIS is a little bit more aggressive on the iPhone 6 Plus than it is on the LG G3. Definitely it will pulsate just a hair bit more on the iPhone 6 Plus, especially if you go into 60fps and the result looks pretty darn good actually. I’m pretty impressed with the iPhone 6 Plus. I’m actually rating this just a bit the LG G3 with its OIS because it just looks a little more fluid, it looks a little more natural looking than the LG G3 with its OIS.
But obviously, this whole test is very subjective. You have to be taking a look at this video and just see which one you like better. I’m not really looking completely at the video quality between these two. I’m looking at how well this stabilizes your natural shake or maybe your hand movements that you’ll be doing when you’re panning shots.
Let me know in the comments below which one you prefer between the iPhone 6 Plus or the LG G3 in terms of their video performance.
