Huawei's hitting the CES floor with tons of new products and announcements, one of them being the Huawei MediaPad M2 10. This is basically a mid-level tablet with some pretty high-end materials that just showcases that Huawei really knows how to build high-end feeling products.
Huawei MediaPad M2 10 is their latest 10-inch Android tablet. It houses a 10-inch 1920x1200 IPS LCD display, a Kirin 930 processor, it has 2- or 3GB of RAM, depending on the model you choose. Around the tablet, you'll see this thin 7.35mm body encased in aluminum and glass; which really makes the MediaPad feel really good in the hand. However, I did find it pretty slippery and somewhat slimy on the back.
Other notable specs are the 13MP camera sensor on the back, a 5MP camera sensor on the front, and the internal 6600mAh battery. There are also 2 models of the MediaPad-- a Wi-Fi only with 2GB of RAM available in 16- or 64GB; and a Wi-Fi + LTE model with 3GB of RAM with the same storage configurations.
Software-wise, it's running Android 5.1 Lollipop but obviously, its skinned fairly heavily, being a Huawei product. And as you know me, I'm not a huge fan of skins on Android; though on the surface MediaPad M2 runs fairly well. Nova Launcher can definitely save the day and make this run true in line with stock Android.
One other big thing about the MediaPad M2 10 is the speakers-- there are four of them, one on each corner and they are powered by Harman/Kardon. So apparently, they do sound good but I haven't had a chance to listen to them.
The Huawei MediaPad M2 10 will be available in the first quarter here in the States with a starting price tag of $349 for the silver 16GB and Wi-Fi model. Add $50 to get 64GB of storage on the Wi-Fi model. And if you want LTE, you'll have to get the gold version which starts at $419 and goes to $469 for the 64GB model. You will also get a M-Pen which is a surface pen-esque device that we didn't get to play with at the event but it does look really cool.
So that's the Huawei MediaPad M2 10. Let me know what you think about this tablet in the comments below.
