Android and iOS will forever be a battle in the mobile industry. As long as Apple keeps making devices and Google maintains Android, there will be battle to have. The ongoing battle between Android and iOS continues to be argued. It is likely never going to end unless one company dies and never makes a phone again. The fight between the two will just keep going forever.

With this, here are 7 reasons why Android 5.0 Lollipop is better than iOS 8. A word of caution, this video is made in favor of Android 5.0 Lollipop. We have simply picked out the best parts of Android 5.0 Lollipop that iOS 8 does not have.

Reason #1: Completely Open

Android is completely open. Everyone and anyone can mess with it. You can change it, make it better or worse if you don’t know what you’re doing. It is completely open-sourced. You can change a lot of its customization settings right on your smartphone. There are people who change Android even further. Samsung and LG even makes skins to interfere with the way Android looks.

But again, all of it runs Android. There’s a really big market on the way Android can be customized. Users can change the way notifications are delivered and how their phone interacts with everything. It generally is a very interesting world.

Reason 1.5: Very Close to being Open-Sourced

While Android 5.0 Lollipop OS may not yet be available for every smartphone, one day it will be. The cool thing about Android right now is that you can find thousands of devices worldwide with a wide range of hardware that run Android in any type of way. This opens up to a world of different types of OEMs. You can use Samsung, LG, HTC, and other manufacturers making Android smartphones with a wide range of hardware. This means you can have the best beastly specked devices like the Google Nexus 6 or the more conservative devices such as the Moto G and Moto E.

Reason 3: Material Design

Material Design made a debut at Google I/O with the Android L Developer Preview. It comes as the best and most stunning form of any mobile operating system available. It is super colorful, great, and comes with lots of animations and motions happening in its background.

Material design on Android Lollipop 5.0 is the best combination anyone can have right now. It produces a good experience and is recommended for anyone who’s an Android fan but does not have Android Lollipop available on their device.

Reason 4: Better Multi-tasking and Completely New Notification System

By far, the multi-tasking on Android devices is ten times better than iOS 8. Multitasking has always been much better on an Android phone. Lollipop just made it an even better experience to use multitasker on Android than the one on iOS 8. Anyone can also argue that iOS 8 does not have a true native multi-tasking system. Android Lollipop has one of the best multi-tasking modes. It does not have a “kill all” because it goes into the software that when there are unused idle modes, it does not take up battery life.

Notifications for Android Lollipop has also been revised, making it more available on home screen and adding interactions that didn’t used to be on Android in the past.

Reason 5: Multi-User Support

This feature is not even remotely available on iOS products such as the iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. This feature allows you to have different profiles for people who could use your phone. You can create a user profile for whoever wants to use your phone—kids, wife or spouse; complete with their own Google accounts, processes and settings. It’s a nice way to have it.

Reason 6: Built-in Battery Saver Mode

Android basically has a single switch for the On/Off battery saving. You just have the On/Off battery saving button that automatically turns on when the battery level turns critical. On iOS 8, you have to dig through all of your settings—you have to turn off auto-refresh, background app refresh, among other things. Android makes things a lot easier with just one universal switch.

Reason 7: Use with a Smartwatch like Moto 360 or LG G Watch R

Android Wear has been available in the market for half a year already and it is a very cool market. It is a perfect way of delivering notifications. The option is not yet available with iPhone even with the Apple Watch still coming later this year in spring. The feature can be used on any Android phone running 4.4 KitKat or higher, including 5.0 Lollipop.
