Today’s the day, Verizon Galaxy Note 7 owners.
Verizon is now pushing out an update that will prevent the battery on its Galaxy Note 7 from recharging. When the battery on a Verizon Galaxy Note 7 reaches zero, it’ll only be able to be powered on when connected to wall charger or external charger.
The update also includes a pop-up message urging Verizon Galaxy Note 7 owners to return the device to Samsung.
When Samsung originally announced this Note 7-killing update last month, Verizon said that it wouldn’t push the update to its version of the Note 7, saying that it didn’t want to risk bricking Note 7s if customers didn’t have another device to switch to during the holidays. Verizon eventually relented, though, and now the time has come for Verizon’s Note 7 to turn into a paperweight.
If you’ve got a Verizon Galaxy Note 7, expect this update to hit your device in the coming days.
