Now that the Samsung Galaxy S7 has officially overtaken sales of both the iPhone 6S and the 6S Plus, the South Korean company is said to be working on its next generation smartphone codenamed Project Dream. And if the rumors are true, this smartphone could very well be the Galaxy S8.
Information about the upcoming smartphone was earlier released by MyDrivers. The Galaxy S8 was revealed to have a 4K 5.5-inch display, a spec needed by devices that supports Samsung's virtual reality platform called Daydream. Prior to this rumor, Samsung had already unveiled a display panel with these specs; fueling rumors that its next-gen smartphones could be equipped with this high-resolution screens to accommodate VR technology. Considering the current Android devices do not yet have support for Daydream, it's likely that the next-gen smartphones could be capable of delivering Daydream content; particularly the Galaxy S8.
Apart from the 4K display, the Galaxy S8 is said to feature a massive 6GB of RAM, a processor with the new 10nm process, and dual rear cameras. There are reports that this device could also be equipped with the iris scanner said to be included on the Galaxy Note 7. Another report by Phone Arena shows that there's reason to believe the Galaxy S8 will have a screen with Bio Blue technology. Earlier, reports of Samsung working on this new technology emerged, showing how the technology was capable of diminishing blue light amount that AMOLED screens emit.
As of this writing, nothing about the Galaxy S8's specs are set on stone. Hopefully, more reports on this latest flagship device will be revealed to the public; especially since there are reports that Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy S8 around February, just in time for Mobile World Congress 2017.
