Today marks the first birthday of My Account, a tool from Google that will help you see and control your private info on Google. And to celebrate, Google is adding some new features to its service.
First up, My Account is gaining a “Find your phone” feature that is exactly what it sounds like. The feature will help you locate your phone and make it ring so that you can hunt it down. You can also lock your phone, make it display a callback number in case someone else finds it, sign out of your account, and more. You can access “Find your phone” on Android and iOS devices and soon you’ll be able to get to it by using the phrase “I lost my phone” in Google.
Google is also making it easier to get into My Account. In the newest version of the Google app, you can say “Ok Google, show me my Google account” and be taken there. This feature works in English right now and will be expanded to other languages. Soon, Google will also let you access My Account simply by entering your own name into Google Search.
Google’s My Account is a handy tool for controlling your data on Google, which is important because a lot of people store personal info on Google. Now My Account is even better because you can use it to find your lost phone, which probably also stores lots of personal info. This isn’t the first time that Google has offered a lost phone locator, but the addition of that tool into My Account should make it easier for some folks to find.
