Smartphones with 4GB of RAM are pretty common nowadays, but we’ve only seen a few devices come equipped with 6GB of RAM. Soon we could see another one from Samsung.
Samsung has introduced a 10-nanometer LPDDR4 6GB mobile DRAM chip. It showed its memory module at the 2016 Samsung Mobile Solutions Forum in Shenzhen, China, earlier this week. Unfortunately, Samsung didn’t drop many other details about its new RAM chip.
So when might we see Samsung’s new 6GB RAM chip in a consumer smartphone? It could happen in just a few months with the debut of the Samsung Galaxy Note 6. Samsung often introduces new features with its Galaxy Note flagships, and it’s been rumored that one of the new features of the Note 6 could be 6GB of RAM. The Note 6 is also rumored to include a USB Type-C port, which would be a first for an Android smartphone from Samsung.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 6 is expected to make its debut in mid-August.
