HTC is placing a lot of focus on the One A9, its latest hero product, but some folks are ignoring the A9 and instead anticipating HTC’s next high-end Android flagship. Now they’ve got a codename and a couple of details to get excited about.
LlabTooFeR, well-known HTC leaker, has teased that the next HTC flagship is codenamed “HTC Perfume.” Again, that is just a codename, meaning that the device will come to market with a different title. When it does arrive, the Perfume is expected to include Android 6.1 running beneath HTC’s Sense 8 user interface.
The HTC Perfume’s spec details are still up in the air, but given HTC’s usage of metal bodies on its One M flagships and the One A9, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Perfume launch with a metal body as well. Another possible feature of the Perfume is Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 820, which will begin appearing in devices in the first half of 2016. HTC used Qualcomm’s then-flagship Snapdragon 810 in the One M9, so it could opt to use the top-end Snapdragon 820 with its next high-end phone.
