It was recently suggested that BlackBerry is working on an Android device that might utilize a slider form factor. Other details on the product were light, but now a couple of additional tidbits have surfaced.
According to N4BB, BlackBerry is indeed working on an Android device, but it won’t be a slider. Instead, the BlackBerry Android phone will allegedly be a low-end handset. Separately, it’s been said that BlackBerry is working on a new phone codenamed “Prague” that’s low-end and full-touch, similar to the BlackBerry Z3. It has yet to be confirmed if the BlackBerry Android phone is this “Prague” device, though.
Obviously this rumored BlackBerry Android phone is still shrouded in mystery. A low-end Android phone may not be a bad idea for BlackBerry, though, because such a device would let BlackBerry target emerging markets with an Android phone that also uses the familiar BlackBerry brand.
